  1. Belladonna, or deadly nightshade Poisonous
  2. plant Atropa belladonna, found in Europe and
  3. Asia. The dried powdered leaves contain
  4. alkaloids. Belladonna extract acts
  5. medicinally as an anticholinergic, and is
  6. highly toxic in large doses. Belladonna is of
  7. the nightshade family, Solanaceae. It grows
  8. to 5 ft/1.5 m, with dull green leaves to 8
  9. in/20 cm and solitary greenish flowers that
  10. produce deadly black berries. The alkaloids
  11. contained are hyoscyamine, atropine,
  12. hyoscine, and belladonnine.
  13.
